En passant Day 11: Not always above the snowline

I got  a little out of sequence in my postings

Wood for next winter

 The Marie at Pierefitte

Henry Russell, the 'father' of Pyreneeism

My gite for the week
The old post house in Pierrefitte, where the road splits to Gavarnie and Cauterets. Stagecoaches heading for the deep mountains would have stopped here 100 years ago, en route from the railhead at Lourdes.  All of Henry Russell's journeys would have been done this way.

Reconnoitring Gavarnie for the next day
St Luz de Saveur
