Food processing

A few weeks ago I volunteered to work as steward, putting up barriers, tables etc. at the local 'fete de quartier'.    The fete was cancelled by heavy rain - but that promise was one of  best social investments I have ever made.  I can't get back from the local epicirie withou someone saying "Nicholas viens boir un coup"and inevitably I leave a house with a bag full of  chestnuts, apples or peppers.  From tomorrow I am away for a week so I had to do soemthing with the bounty of nature.   Chestnuts roasted; apples, beets and carrott grated into a salad for tomorrow's journey and peppers drying in the sun
