Exterminate !

With my new (UPC) cable connection I seem to have unlimited access to Dr. Who shows. Wow. I remember when I was seven or so I used to hide behind the sofa when the daleks came on. They were so scary. My parents were not smart enough to tell me that that we lived on a first floor apartment and the daleks didn't (in those days) do stairs. Just one piece of parental guidance that I never received

I heard the funniest story from a friend who overheard a kid running around saying 'I am a garlic' instead of 'I am a dalek' hilarious :-)

Nice one. Its amazing how the garlics have captured children's imaginations for more than forty years. Presumably we would need a French Dr. Qui to take on the garlics.

Whatever your parents had told you it would have done no good. I told my daughter that ET is just a rubber puppet but she still has to search under her bed every night to check he's not there.

But I thought ET was cute and cuddly

Lola thinks he's terrifying. I had to remove a book with a picture of ET in from her bedroom as she couldn't sleep just knowing the picture was there.

My oldest daughter always thought ET was terrifying. She would hide her face whenever it was shown anywhere.

My little one was terrified of the warped baby on the cover of Chumba Wumba's Tub Thumping CD. LOL, we had a great time with that!!

My poor kids.

I don't know what Daleks were, I never saw the show. (wasn't allowed to watch much TV)

I never watched Dr Who either. I saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Can't see what all the fuss is about.
