My life is changing in so many ways ---

Once upon a time my life was simple. I dealt with my own affairs- fixed my own car (even it meant sitting in a rainy gutter on a winter night), did my own tax returns, etc., etc. . Right now I have a solicitor, an accountant, a cleaner, a therapist, a DIY guy, a mechanic, a language tutor, someone who maintains my computer system and two sub-contractors. It's scary.

I am not complaining about these changes- but the rapidity with which they have occurred, and the changes in attitude that they provoke, are challenging. I always wanted to be a simple guy, who pays his own way through life and grows his own vegetables (a la Henry David Thoreau) - it's not workin' out that way. Learning how to run a business was one step forward- learning how to let go, delegate and manage from a distance is another - and I still find it very challenging. It's challenging to move from feeling like a victim of an unjust economic system to a position where one is a "player" (albeit in a small way) and yet wants to play the game by different rules. Rules of transparency and fairness. Learning how to trust: not just other people, but myself and my own judgement and the fact that the Universe does support me.
