Bling City

There’s no denying it: Pattaya is bling. It’s full of Russkies on package tour deals and elderly western tourists lapping at the fountain of youth. Not really my kind of place (although I am distancing myself from it by staying at a quiet fishing cum low key family-run tourist resort about ten km away from the main strips). I normally don’t do beach holidays ad have never stayed more than three days at a beach resort (and that was in Goa as a respite from the challenges of travelling for 6 months + in India, many moons ago).

I was planning to pull out yesterday and head for a ‘hill station’ close to the Burmese border (with the possibility of crossing over? But then yesterday my search for a tennis coach here (started six days ago) yielded fruit. After one lesson I realised it worth staying around for awhile. So I am going to hang on in here for another week and put up with the ‘kiss me quick’ T Shirts. Accepting change in one’s life is important.
