Reasons to be cheerful
Coming home late from a meeting in Utrecht on Saturday I was approached by a young guy outside the post office who asked me where the McDonald's was. I thought about this for a moment (never having considered eating in such an establishment) and then said, with perhaps ill disguised delight, that we don't have one. It made me inordinately proud to be an (adopted) Wageninger - almost as if I had single handedly led the campaign against the dreaded golden arches. But it was a lovely feeling to realise that I live in a Mac Free zone. Another plus for Wageningen!(Realising he was hungry, and it was late at night, I did suggest alternative sources of cheap -albeit non corporately owned- nutrition).
