I was sharing your pictures with a British friend, who really liked your portraits of the birds along the way. It's a cultural contrast for me: we tend to take pictures of landscapes and people; the British (I think) tend to collect particular categories of things that they spotted along the way. My friend collects interesting bits of buildings (door knockers and stone ornaments) with the same passion.

It was very flat polder landscape and a grey day so not many opportunities for good landscape shots. So bridges and birds became the themes of the day- not that I am a great bird spotter - but they were remarkably relaxed about having a camera pointed at them. I still get a little excited about seeing herons which are quite rare in the UK - though very common here.
